Albert Collins Newsome, Jr., lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy, went to sing with the angels Sunday, August 13th. He is preceded in death by brothers, Venters and Donald Newsome; parents, Albert Collins Newsome, Sr. and Loma Ethal Green; nephew, Vann Newsome; sisters, Jimmy Ruth Chrism, Frankie Caldwell and Ethal Newsome; and a son, Eddie Richmond. He is also preceded by his first wife of 28 years, Alice Newsome. He is survived by one sister, Virginia Lively.
Albert sang his way through life and was a blessing to the ears of many, from church congregations, to neighbors working in their gardens. He will be sorely missed by many, but none more than the ones who called him Daddy and Pawpaw.
Al raised and was a father to 8 children; Rhonda and Allison Newsome and Eddie and Connie Richmond, by his first wife, Alice Newsome; and Albert Collins Newsome III, Christina and Hailey Newsome, and Megan McWilliams, by his second wife of 18 years, Tonya Newsome. Grandchildren include, Matt and Paul Newsome, Heath and Audrie Legg, Brandie and Candice McGinnis and Hunter Wilkey; along with several great-grandchildren.
Al often spoke of his 30 years of service as a supervisor at Norton Chemical Co. and the employees. The stories told over the years included the many that worked with him; all happy, humorous memories. He loved and was loved by so many.
Services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017, with Rev. Clay Moreland presiding. Burial will follow at Varner Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the funeral home.
